If you’re a college student considering a future in dentistry, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry’s InDent Program is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn about the dental school admissions process, and explore the profession up close. This immersive, one-week summer program is designed to give participants insight into what it takes to become a successful dental student and future practitioner.

The VCU InDent Program provides students with a comprehensive introduction to dentistry through interactive sessions, clinical exposure, and admissions workshops. Here’s what makes this program stand out:

1. Hands-On Preclinical Lab Experience

Participants will work in state-of-the-art simulation labs and gain practical experience in basic dental procedures. This is an excellent way to develop early hand skills and understand the technical aspects of dentistry.

2. Dental Admission Test (DAT) Preparation

Scoring well on the DAT is a key component of dental school admissions. The InDent Program includes test-taking strategies, study tips, and insight into DAT preparation to help participants strengthen their performance.

3. Application Readiness Workshops

Applying to dental school can be overwhelming. This program offers guidance on:

5. Exposure to the Daily Life of a Dental Student

Through campus tours, Q&A sessions, and clinical observations, participants will get a firsthand look at what it’s like to study at VCU School of Dentistry and the expectations of dental school.

Program Details

📍 Location: VCU School of Dentistry, Richmond, Virginia
 📅 Dates: May 12–16, 2025
 👥 Capacity: Limited to 15 participants to ensure a personalized experience.
 💰 Cost: $475 - This includes a daily lunch, use of dental simulation labs, dental instruments, and a certificate of completion. Does not include travel, housing, breakfast/dinner

Eligibility Requirements

✔ Must be a current college freshman or above (sophomore, junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate students are welcome).
 ✔ Minimum GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework.
 ✔ Completion of at least one semester of General Biology before applying.
 ✔ Open to both in-state and out-of-state students.

🚫 Students who have already been accepted into any dental school are not eligible to participate.
